I would like to forward on the idea for a political section within the forums. So those that wish to discuss politics are free to do so without affecting anyone else.

Don't think we need a political forum at this stage, the General forum can handle that. Especially with the nature of political discussions and the inability of most people to keep things non-personal.
However, there are places for that kind of stuff, where you can talk about politics as much as you wish, but I still believe they will lock down threads which are straying from topic or getting personal.
