Scotland to Target Gamers With Ads

The Scottish government announced a program today to pay for in-game advertising in racing games that discourages drinking and driving. Thankfully they mean drinking and driving in real life because, to be honest, playing video games is the best time TO be drinking. Alcohol + Need For Speed + Friends = Fun!

The 10,000 pound ($20,000) trial project will see the ads appear on virtual billboards within several games for Microsoft Xbox consoles, including "Need for Speed: Carbon," "Project Gotham Racing 4" and "NBA Live."

Apparently they are targeted ads too. They are downloaded the first time you login to the game on your Xbox.

PC doesnt have those, but they do have enough already. I dont have anything against the in-game adverts as long as they fit with the game.

BTW. Are you participating in the Current Race Day?

Been putting these together in my spare time between races.

The Supra, Lamborghini and RX7 are the cars I used for the Castrol race day. I came 10th overall, which I believe was pretty good seeing I only built those cars on the day I raced them. Just wish I had more time to compete.

Unfortunately the stats dont update. They are only current at the time of the upload.

Saw a post on spaced names somewhere. Let me find it.

Yes the races are the same, but the versions arent compatible. So I dont think we can race against each other. Which is stupid and I cant see why not.

All I could find about names was that certain length names wouldnt work. This was fixed in 1.1

Apparently cars in the console version handle differently, have different horsepower and other stats. Damn shame, I really was looking forward to having a friend :P
