According to multiple sources, P2 Entertainment (formally Perpetual Entertainment) has officially closed their doors. This means an end to all projects, including their planned focus on casual games. There is no indication at this time what it means for the Perpetual Platform, which had been licsened to studios like Bioware Austin.

We will have more on this story as it develops.

Could be good for us. I didn't read the article (on my way to work), but from what istik said they may have gotten the engine over at bioware? If that's so it should shorten coding time for the top secret MMO that everyone knows is KOTOR

BioWare announced, shortly after they announced they were working on a MMORPG, that they'd bought a license from Perpetual to use their HERO engine for the game. The devs have said in various places that the decision to use an off-the-shelf engine with a suite of content-development tools has cut their development cycle time by a factor of several years -- and further, they've claimed they have a playable in-house game, whatever it is.

All to the good, I say. The more time they can spend iterating and playtesting variants on the game's mechanics and subsystems rather than developing the software itself, the better in my opinion.
