GTA-VC install help please

Unread post by Psycho » Sat Jun 28, 2003 3:29 pm

okay, so I am having a bad run today.

Um... how does this work again?

I burnt both bins to CD. On install it gives me a pile of huge pile of 'file xxxxx does not match the one in the cab file. Abort Retry Ignore.' to do with all the audio on disk 2 for the radio channel.

uh huh.... cd verification checks out okay, daemon tools says the stuff is exactly the same - no filters to play any of the mp3s.

Uninstall, reinstall without audio crap.

Copy crack from crack dir, replace original exe. Run game. Hmmm.... a dos window for a sec then nothing.

I replace the exe with a new nocd exe from gamecopyworld (gimpus v1.0). Plays an intro then locks up the system. Nice.

Reboot. Try it again. Works, but says 'insert Vice City Cd or pres ESC to quit'. Download and install the Fairlight v1.1 no cd. Doesn't work (same error).

So I get pissed off and download just about EVERY FRIGGEN crack under GCW's GTAVC section and try them all out, one after the other.

Same as before.

In desperation, I use daemon tools, figuring maybe the CD's (I burnt 2 copies) were dodgy. Same deal.

Nor does the orginal installation exe recognise either the daemon toolsed image or the cd as original.

So, how are you supposed to install this thing?

Please help before I have to cut my wrists with jagged edge of a snapped GTAVC CD.

For anyone interested a friend fooled around with it.

The solution is to install the radio sounds pack, pressing 'ignore' on all the dialog boxes, then download and install the 'fake audio' patch, then apply the gimpus 1.0 nocd.

Apparently this only allows 640 res configuration, and all dialog in-game is muted, so you have to have subtitles on to understand anything.

He's sourcing another copy to see if it makes a difference.
