With all the new mmo's coming out like - kotor, startrek, and the post apocolyptic one something rise maybe earthrise. Coming out.
What are you guys planning on doing for e.g sticking with swg, or having multiple mmo's or bailing for kotor etc.
Im leaning towards startrek myself. Although im thinking of sticking with swg and just playing normal games, like I do at moment.

Re: New mmorpgs

Re: New mmorpgs
Star Trek looks terrific so far so I'll definitely check that one out.
I haven't seen much on Stargate since they announced the beta so I am back on the fence with that one.
SWTOR should be ace but all the talk about micro-transactions plus EA and [obviously] LucasArts involvement (still not ready to forgive them over the NGE) has turned me off of that. I'm also not particularly keen on what I've seen of the character artwork and design so far: I have worried visions of a Saturday morning cartoon mixed up with WoW and a Star Wars skin stuck onto it. I want to love it because it's Star Wars and it's Bioware.
SWG Emu is the one I have the most hope for. Just a few minutes play is enough to remind me how much I loved that version of the game That was a proper game

All of them.

Conan: Lores Lored
Warhammer: Lores, Lored, Reikiho, Shootist

Startrek, then SWtor. Will keep one toon in SWG until it dies or I find that one of the other two completely occupy my time and never log on anyway.

Bioware has already stated publicly they're not going realistic with their graphics package. It's going to be "stylized". In other words its gonna look like a fucking japanimation cartoon. Stargate is apparently having money troubles... not entirely sure why. Star Trek bugs me in the same way SW:TOR does, the graphics are more stylized almost cartoonish. The shit cartoon graphics of WoW are the reason I never played it. I didn't spend the kind of money I spent on a top of the line PC so they could dumb down the graphics on games to PS1 Crash Bandicoot level.
*sigh*
Eventually they'll come up with the ideal game I'm thinking it'd be sandbox, based in the Star Wars universe..... multiple professions.... say 32, with a player driven crafting economy. Anyone know of a game like that?
Re: New mmorpgs
As unfortunate as it is, this is part of the reason why WoW was so popular. Anyone could run it, from laptops, to those old computers with integrated graphics cards. The low polygon count of the models allowed for lesser graphics hardware. It seems that the new MMOs are going the same way. While still more detailed than WoW, a cartoonish style, allows for more freedom in terms of detail than trying to make things look real.Gram wrote:gelfling wrote:Star Trek looks terrific so far so I'll definitely check that one out.
