Hold off on that one, soldier. It was just announced this month that TFU will also be released on the Wii. Lightsaber combat on the Wii-Mote for the win, baby!

Ach! Wii is by nintendo...nintendo is for little kids...sure, it may be cool to use the wiimote like a lightsaber, but not worth it to buy a system for just that game and be stuck playing pokemon and yugioh games otherwise.

Actually, the buzz I am hearing is that the WiiMote is catching on with adults who were not hard-core gamers. It adds some rudimentary semblance of the real actions of a player in applications like bowling or tennis games, or any game that in which spatial capture of a hand or arm movement could be a factor. The damn traditional gamepad is probably the biggest of several major factors that have kept me a PC purist all my life (I hate gamepads!). The WiiMote is at least an outside-the-box improvement.

The question is, will it be enough to enable Nintendo to overcome its image as a kiddie-console manufacturer. On that front, it's all about the applications. For my part, it takes more than just a bunch of overused swear words (a la F.E.A.R.) to make a game appealing for adults. But as far as the hardware goes, it probably packs plenty of graphical punch for the purpose. Hardware is getting to the point where additional resolution is pretty pointless. The thing that will distinguish consoles and console games moving forward will, more and more, be the quality of the gameplay. And that's where the WiiMote gives its console a competitive leg up. Or an arm, if you prefer.

I'm still not sold on the Wii, but I think it's worth watching to see what the game developers do with it.

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. It's not a Sony.

Not gonna quote all you said but it was all said very well. Your point is very good and made me rethink my opinion on the Wii. I think I'd still rather use a gamepad for the game because I'm so used to using one (been using them since Pong) Switching to a completely different form of control would be too much of a change for me. Maybe if I knew someone who had a wii I could use theirs for a bit to get better acclimated to its use, but I wouldn't want to spend $250 on something I've never used before, whereas a x360 is normal gamepad control.

Not that I'm really going to go buy a x360 for that one game anyways. I'm saving for a better computer than my current 6 year old one.
