I know im not the only one who felt all the Batman flicks were childish, unrealistic, and ghastly flashy. I hated them.
The first movie was the only one remotely close to what we all would hope for in a Batman movie but even that one was not exactly what we wanted.
I just seen this latest movie and finally they got it right. First off its realistic. And when I say realistic I mean it follows the same action sequences as other movies and not gay henchman doing cartwheels and shit in the street.
Second, Heath Ledger played the Joker to perfection. Not only did he have a great look to him but it was believable(unlike Nicholason). His acting was astonishing and he really "owned" the character. It was also refreshing that the joker didnt cackle every 5 seconds and they only reserved that for where it was needed.
Thirdly, they really touched upon the fact that batman is really a heroic vigilante in a way more profound then in the other movies.
But the Joker really made this movie and its sad to realize Heath is no more.
The Jokers interaction with the criminals, police, and batman was right on.
A truly bad ass not to be fucked with.

I saw it at the Imax scottish preview.
Awsome. I left the cinema stunned at what I had just seen.
Before I had went to see it i had decided it would be rubbish (too much exposure about the movie- too much build up and I thought cause ledger died they would overuse him in the picture)
However I was wrong thank god - The best superhero movie I have ever seen.
Ledger was the joker - The evil nutjob that was in the Dark knight comics. The batman and the joker were both believable - Joker what can I say - you have to see him in action to believe. And the multilayered Batman, you could see his pain every time he donned the mask. He wants so hard to be a bastard and be evil like his enemies, but knows he cant be.
The start showing copycat vigilantes - told a story in itself - the line from one vigilante - something like "if you can be a vigilante then why cant I"
This in itself is a true point - and I think thats what got at the Batman and tore his soul apart. Being a vigilante is a criminal offence asswell - so this means batman is a criminal - maybe he should go to jail!
It is an amazingly brave movie to make - and proves that comic characters can be protrayed as real with real emotions and issues, just like any other movie. Its also an amazing character study of positive and negative characters - which character is which?
