I know we talked about this before but I couldnt find the thread. The weather is warming up and that means Im taking the kids to the park/beach etc alot now so I do alot of reading while theyre playing...
I just picked up Rogue Planet and plan on eventually reading them all over the next few years. 100 pages in and reading about Tarkin is intersting.

After that read Homers the Illiad its tough going but good.
Before you read it, you have to understand it was a differnt time, what meanings meant then, mean different things now. But stay with it and you will see that the Odyssey is the greatest book ever written, there is also a lot of comparisons that can be made of starwars out of it. Eps 4,5,6 were lukes Odyssey. And really lucas ripped of classic stuff already written and set it in space.
Wham bam thankyou MAM.
Do you want to see my lollipop.

the illiad is tough
really tough, but good
rogue planet was a strange one, not a great book. it's just there to set up the story in the new jedi order books that come later. when you read them you see that rogue planet was just a quick cash in

Yeah Im on Outbound Flight now. Im just gonna go in order of the timeline but I cant wait for the Han solo, Bounty hunter, and the better Jedi books. Has anyone read them all. Just curious.
Re: SW Books
guilty
outbound flights really good. although without reading the thrawn trilogy might not make sense
the best ones are the thrawn trilogy and the x-wing books

Re: SW Books
Going by the timeline, Outbound Flight happens 18 years before the Thrawn trilogy. So you would think I would have to read that first eh?Toucan wrote:guilty

Since you've read them all do you get a better feel of the star wars saga? Like is a lot of things connected that make it well rounded and gives a better understanding or is it just a bunch of star wars books that half heartedly have connections?
Re: SW Books
i read most of them before the prequels came out, and there are some direct contradictions there
but for the most part i enjoyed them
the new jedi order and the new legacy of the force are a bit half arsed tho
but the thrawn books, the xwing books, hell ever the jedi academy books (if you make it past the god awful blob races) are all good in their own way

I'm done with Outbound Flight and I really enjoyed it. Thrawn is an awesome character...in every way. Its making me want to just skip to the Thrawn Trilogy now.Toucan wrote:guilty

Re: SW Books
they were the 1st sequal books ever published, so you wont spoil anything by jumping to them. in fact more likely the opposite
in fact, after i finish my dexter omnibus, i might dig 'em out
