New Computer

I need some help from you computer wizards out there.

I just got a new computer and I keep getting a bluescreen after about 10-15 min. saying something about compatability problems then computer then shuts down and restarts.

On the restart I get several messages depending reading as follows (each message is on a different restart):

1) First restart: "Bios ROM checksum error Keyboard error or no keyboard present detecting floppy drive A media... Drive A error system Halt" At this point nothing happens so I turn the computer off.

2) Second restart: "Floppy disk(s) fail (40) Warning! Now system is in safe mode. Please reset CPU or Memory frequency in the CMOS setup" I again have to restart computer.

3) Third restart: "Floppy disk(s) fail (40) CMOS checksum error - defaluts loaded" I'm now given the option to open window in safe mode or normal. I pick normal and vista comes up for 20 or so min. then the whole thing starts over with the bluescreen.

I don't have a floppy disk, I go into CMOS change it to "None" but during the restarts it keeps resetting my CMOS back to default which says "1.77 MB floppy" or some shit like that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated (I haven't even been able to download all of SWG yet due to this).

might try clearing the cmos by removing the battery for a few secs. I doubt that the battery is bad, but stranger things have happened. If the time on your machine is still correct, the battery should still be fine.

Make sure that everything is seated correctly too, I know faulty ram or ram that isn't seated all the way can give you the blue screens.

Good luck and let us know!

Could be a faulty motherboard. If you built it yourself, take the board back. If you got it built for you, then take the system back and tell them to fix it.

It's a brand new computer... take it back and exchange it for one that works. You shouldn't have to fix it yourself.
Sorry to hear that you're having problems with a brand new PC.

Almost sounds like the Bios memory is fucked up. Try a firmware upgrade of your bios, if that tanks then you should take it back.

At this moment I wouldnt be trying much at all, as if the firmware upgrade fails, they may blame that for the fault.

Just take it back. Now and then new components will be faulty.

it might be too late, but my advice is do not try ANYTHING to the computer
if you do need to take it back, and you've tampered with stuff, it just gives them ammo not to return it
the onus would then be on you to prove the problem was there all along and not a result of anything you've done

I sneak in my own house.
It's four in the morning
I've had too much to drink
Said i was out with the boys
I creep in my bedroom
I slip into bed,
I know if i wake her,
I'll wake up dead
