It's hard to appreciate a person who has committed suicide but this man has a family and a little girl. Whatever his reasons, and I am of the view that there is no reason that is good enough, it does us an injustice to be negative here.
Since the Post Mortem is yet to be done and the results are not yet in, there is no way to know whether he overdosed using illegal drugs or through prescription medication. The news report indicates the latter.

Well I'm not sure it matters on what type of drug he OD'd on. You take enough of anything, and that's what happens. He's been in the news before for being so high that he didnt know top from bottom.
Either way he made the decision to take whatever it was he took, he is the only one responsible there.
While it's unfortunate. I have as much sympathy for him as I do for Britney Spears with her visitation rights, or Michael Jackson for .. well being Michael Jackson. These people didnt reach this place in their lives by some freakish horrible accident.

What matters, is the family and that is my point. We don't know what he was thinking or his intention (that's a job for the experts) but the end result is the same: a family lost one of their own.

NEW evidence including a $20 note rolled in a "suspicious" way has been found in the apartment of Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his SoHo apartment yesterday. The $20 note and bottles of prescription drugs were listed on the official police report from the scene, and were being tested at a police lab, the New York Times reported.

I know first hand, mixing valum an other forms of prescription drugs will kill you... good friend of mine had just got out of jail an he was mixing all kinda of shit, one was valum an beer, that alone killed him.
