Tas DC backup hub

Unread post by johnd » Mon Feb 24, 2003 8:31 am

This is just to make sure people have a reference to this. The address is:

nstashubbackup.no-ip.org

Currently, the hub has no banning based on IP addresses, so make sure you know who you are downloading from to make sure it doesn't impact your data quota! IP based banning will be implemented this week.

The hub is always up, and does not automatically redirect to the main hub. This is because I have yet to write a script to monitor the main hub and switch redirection on and off as required. (This is really because I am still summoning up the courage to do this. Hubs use VBS for scripting, a horrible "language".) However, if I see people using it when the main hub is up I'll redirect them to that.

Remember, this is not a replacement or alternative hub. It is a backup to make sure that we can maintain hub connectivity should Phil have a problem.

The backup hub now has IP banning installed, to limit connections to Netspace Tasmania users. Sorry, for the moment Southcom (Keypoint) users will not be able to connect until I get the IP range for them from Phil.

The backup hub will now accept connections from Keypoint, previously Southcom, users in Tas.

Thanks JohnD for the backup. It ran seemlessly.

I didn't miss a beat, neither did the leachers :(
I see Stoopid people .. .. All the time

UberLeeched DC++ ratio 12.03+ increasing all the time, don't abuse what U take, and share it.
Otherwise I won't share mine.
