'Voltron' gets bigscreen go

Unread post by Anach » Wed Aug 15, 2007 8:45 am

New Regency is looking to assemble its own giant robot movie.
The 20th Century Fox-based production entity is close to a deal with the Mark Gordon Co. to adapt "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" into a live-action film.

Gordon has been developing the pic, based on the popular 1980s Japanese animated TV series, comicbooks and toy line, with Justin Marks penning the script.

Should the deal close, project would be one of the company's more high-profile efforts since Robert Harper took over as chairman-CEO of Regency Filmed Entertainment earlier this year.

Interest in the property hit a high after "Transformers" turned into a box office juggernaut, raking in nearly $300 million to date.

It's four in the morning
I've had too much to drink
Said i was out with the boys
I creep in my bedroom
I slip into bed,
I know if i wake her,
I'll wake up dead

Yeah; it really went downhill after they moved away from just the lions.

Of course, I'm the person that was addicted to "Spectreman" when I was younger, so what do I know?

I wonder if Peter Cullen will be involved with this one, after all he was voice over for Voltron and Optimus Prime in Transformers.

Now all we need is a G.I. Joe movie and a Thundercats movie and all the cartoons I saw as a kid will be movies!

Also Galaxy Rangers, tho I don't know how many people watched that one, even tho it was a favorite of mine!
My hand is like the gale, forceful and strong.
My blade that of fire, destroying and merciless.
My wit sharp as the blade I wield.
With each kill I grow wiser, and with added wisdom, I grow stronger.

G.I Joe is apparently being discussed.

Heh... Hollywood has discovered there's big money to be made by allowing baby boomers to relive their childhood. (cf. X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman, Scooby Doo, etc., etc., etc....)
